Andrew Wray Fazio was called Home on May 20, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born April 15, 1933, in Joliet, IL, to Angelo and Theresa Fazio. He attended elementary school in Joliet and then went to Onarga Military School in Onarga, IL. He later served in the United States Army. As a young man, he began working at Phoenix Manufacturing. Later, he attended barber college and joined his father at the family's barber shop located on Cass St. in Joliet. The fashions of the late 1960's and early 1970's inspired him to expand the barber shop to include a men's and women's boutique which he named Wray's Cavalier. In addition, he provided barbering service to inmates in the Joliet prison system. A midlife career change led him into automobile sales where he worked for Vidmar Buick, Bert Adams Pontiac, and Bob Martin Auto Sales.
As a talented musician, Wray played trumpet for the Joliet Grade School Band, Onarga Military School Band, and the American Legion Band. Many exciting years were spent competing and traveling with the American Legion Band where they won multiple National Championships. "Stars and Stripes Forever" was his favorite composition to perform. He was active in the Church of St. Anthony as lector and a member of the Christian Family Movement. He was also a member of the Italian American Commercial Club, and UNICO International where he was named Man of the Year. In the mid 1990's, Wray and his wife Suzanne retired to Marco Island, FL, and later moved to Forest Glen Country Club in Naples, FL. It was there that he established wonderful friendships, played countless rounds of golf, and enjoyed cocktails and dinner at "The Club". He took an active role in the Forest Glen community and served on the HOA board. Wray and Suz (as he affectionately called his wife) built a beautiful life together by traveling, attending the Naples Philharmonic, and socializing with their many friends. He served as an usher at San Marco Catholic Church for many years.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Suzanne Fazio, his adoring grandmother Dorothy Little, his parents Angelo and Theresa Fazio, brother Philip Fazio, and grandson Andrew Prospero. Survived by his daughters Andrea (John) DiVecchio, Theresa (Mike) Prospero, and Paula (Jason) Taylor. Remembered affectionately by Paul (Linda) Ostrem, Tom (late Judy) Ostrem, and Tim (Kris) Ostrem. Grandfather to Danielle (Jason) Adolph, Natalie (Adam) Parrish, Francesca (Camden) Meade, Joshua (Meghan) Dolph, Kristin (fiancé Lamont) Dolph, and Zachary (Lindsay) Dolph. Great-grandchildren Landon, Eliana, Andrew, Gianna, Briella, Eden, Kaliah, Noah, Lucas, Aaron, Logan, and Caleb.
The family would like to thank the administration, staff, and his buddy Dan, RN at American House Cedarlake, his devoted caregivers Theresa and Patricia from Wisdom Eldercare, and the staff of Suncrest Hospice especially Olivia, RN, and JJ, CNA.
Memorials in Wray's name can be made to San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL 34145. Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, FL.
