Barbara Pekar

(Nee: Petrilla)

Age 99, late of Lockport passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2021, with her daughters by her side.

Preceded in death by her husband, John Pekar; her son, Jerry Pekar; parents, George and Anna (Nee Daniels) Petrilla; her sisters, Betty (John) Vargo, Anne (Harvey) Studer, Mary (Louis) Molnar, Marge (Jack) Kerwin, Helen (Ike) Graf; sister-in-law, Helen Petrilla; and all of John's siblings and spouses.

Survived by her brother, George Petrilla; devoted daughters, Carol (Jim) Teiber, Shari (Rick) Novotny; and daughter-in-law, Deanna Pekar; she will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Lori (Bob) Johnson, Jim (Shannon) Teiber, Mike (Megan) Teiber, Leslie (Kevin) Madson, Tyler (Melissa) Pekar, Rick (Andrea) Novotny, Joe (Misty) Novotny; and 19 adored great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Barbara was born in Cekanovce, Czechoslavakia. As a five year old she along with her mother and three sisters crossed the Atlantic Ocean and entered the United States through Ellis Island.

Barbara's greatest joy was her family and her home, she took great pride in both.

Special thanks to her very special neighbor, Teri Szymanski, along with her nieces, Karen and Holly for all their help.

Per Barbara's request absolutely no flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice, 250 Waterstone Circle Joliet, IL 60431 would be appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in the O'Neil Funeral Home chapel 1105 E. 9 ^th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00am. Interment immediately following services at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
