Carol Josephine Bitter

(Nee Rasmussen)

Age 99, late of Mokena formerly of Lockport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Born and raised in Glencoe, IL, during the depression she moved to Denmark, and lived in Chicago, Lockport from 1950-1980, Winter Haven, FL from 1980-2003, and a resident of Mokena the last 20 years. She worked at Orland State Bank, Orland Park, IL., for many years.  Carol was an avid gardener and won many awards for her beautiful gardens in Mokena, enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, and rooting for the Chicago Cubs.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hubert Bitter (March 15, 2003); parents, Carlo and Edith (Nee Christensen) Rasmussen; one brother, Calvin Rasmussen; and one sister, Judith (Wilsey) Davies.

Survived by her devoted children, Del (Joy) Bitter of Mokena, Debi (Scott) Gill of Winter Haven, FL, and Dwain (Lori) Bitter of Napa, California; grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Mercier, Amber (Sunil) Mehra, Aubrey Gill, Cristian (Emma) Linguariu, Kate Bitter, and Melissa (Kyle) Ketterling; and seven great grandchildren.

Per Carol's wishes Cremation Rites were respectfully addressed.

Inurnment for Carol and her beloved husband, Hugh will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at a later date.
