Obituary

Age 18, of Lockport, IL passed away from a short battle with brain cancer on July 30th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Connor was born on October 9, 2002 to parents, Gary and Ginger (née Carollo) Christian. Connor is survived by his maternal grandmother, Carol (née Rawley) Carollo; parents, Gary and Ginger; his older brother, Ryan, and his older sister Paige; as well as cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Beloved son to Gary and Ginger (née Carollo) Christian; loving younger brother to Ryan (Sarah) and Paige Christian; boyfriend to his cherished girlfriend Sarina LoCascio; nephew to many aunts and uncles, and best friend to many loving cousins; dedicated Lockport Porters and Cangelosi Sparks baseball player; a dedicated teammate and friend to all on and off the field.

Connor was born and raised in Lockport, surrounded by a huge network of family and friends. Baseball was his passion, where he created an immeasurable amount of friendships while playing the game that he loved so much. He loved nothing more than catching behind the plate and being there to support his teammates in any way possible. Connor was a diligent student and graduated in the top ten percent of his class as a member of the National Honor Society and an Illinois State Scholar. He spent many hours at the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Dome, where he played baseball, worked, and volunteered for youth baseball camps. Connor aspired to attend the United States Air Force Academy to become a pilot and was awarded a congressional nomination to the Academy during his senior year of high school. Connor loved to fly and aspired to be a Pilot. He was fortunate to be able to spend quality time with a seasoned Flight Instructor, Jim Hemphill (Connors Namesake).

At only 18, Connor was mature beyond his years, which helped him truly understand the value of time spent with his family. Growing up, most nice days Connor could be found playing catch in the yard with his sister, Paige. He was always willing to step in and help his mother with any task around the house and would always be the first one to step up to the plate if someone needed help. He was fortunate enough to spend a countless amount of quality time with his father at baseball tournaments, whether in hotel rooms or on long car rides. Connor was an avid outdoorsman. Many of his weekends were spent with his brother, cousins, uncles, and grandfather at the Lockport Duck Club, where he grew up duck and deer hunting. Connor loved the mountains- he especially loved going skiing with his sister, brother, and mother every year. Connor and his brother, Ryan, shared a dream of adventuring out west to go elk hunting- they were planning on going for the first time this year. Connor also spent a lot of his time playing video games with his brother, friends, and cousins, which ensured everyone stayed connected, even from a distance. At the young age of 18, Connor was lucky enough to have already found his soulmate. His girlfriend, Sarina LoCascio, brought him immense joy, comfort, and always met him with unwavering support, especially when he needed it most. They enjoyed spending their time together in meaningful ways- whether it was studying, baking, or just watching Netflix and eating their favorite ice cream together. These small moments of simply being together with Sarina meant the most to Connor. The memories, conversations, and life lessons that he made with those that were most important to him were held close to his heart and will be carried on by his loved ones forever. Connor "Bear" truly made the world a better place- he lit up every room he walked into with his bright smile and sparkly baby blue eyes.
