Our beloved mother, Dorothy H. McGinn, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022, at her home. Born on June 4, 1933, in Joliet, IL to Joseph and Mary Kure, she lived most of her life in Lockport, IL. Dorothy worked as a secretary at Lockport High School prior to raising her family, and then as a grocery cashier/office assistant at various locations, and lastly retiring in 2011 from Chipain's Fresh Market in Lemont, IL.
Our precious mother devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She often said, "If I knew how much fun grandchildren were, I would have had them first." All those that entered her home felt the unconditional love that she shared with so many. She mostly enjoyed spending time with family and at her home, surrounded by flowers, birds and squirrels, and spending hours doing yardwork.
Survived by her children Lyle Pat (Barb) McGinn, Laura (Kim) Forkal, Gary (Michele) McGinn, Greg (Trish) McGinn and Linda (Dave) Molitor; Grandchildren Michael, Katie, Carli McGinn, Jill (Chris) Magruder and Jenna (Kevin) Lawlor, Ariele, Jared, Drew, Joel McGinn, and Aubrey, Amber Molitor; Great-grandchildren Liam and Quinn, Finleigh, Wesley, Analyn and Charley, and Ginny; sister-in-laws, Dolly (Kim) Calcaterra and Chris (late Ed) Kure, brother-in-law Rodger (Judy) McGinn, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Lyle of 59 years; parents Joseph and Mary (Nemanich), five brothers, Frank "Bim", Joseph "Goose", Edward "Batch", John "Max", Raymond "Moose" and two sisters, Anne Anderson and Theresa Ernest.
In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service for family members and close friends of the family that shared her love will be conducted on Friday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. with a 12:30pm service at O'Neil Funeral Home, 1105 E. 9th St. (159th St.), Lockport. A private funeral service will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date, in which she will be buried with her beloved husband.
