Eugene "Gene" Michael Getson,

Age 90, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Greenspring Senior Living Community.

Gene was born to Michael Paul Getson and Stephanie Millie Bajt in Joliet, Illinois. He graduated from Joliet High School and later attended Missouri University of Science and Technology where he received a degree in Civil Engineering with distinction. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and had a long-standing career in the oil and gas industry which took the family to Illinois, Florida and Latin America.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Marie Pesavento from Lockport, Illinois in 2018.

Gene is survived by three children, Sandy (Hardi) Samuel of Melbourne, Florida, Nancy (Wes) DeBrosse of Fairfax Station, Virginia and Doug (Nancy) Getson of Waco, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kurt and Nicole Samuel, Krista, Michael and Julia DeBrosse, and Benjamin and Olivia Getson; and three sisters, Audrey (Rod) Wright, Shirley (Jim) Catalanello and Suzanne (Denny) Domnick.

Visitation Friday, January 29, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, in the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL 1105 E. 9 ^TH ST. LOCKPORT, IL., proceeding to Saint Dennis Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon . A PRIVATE ENTOMBMENT WILL TAKE PLACE WITH IMMEDIATE FAMILY (INVITE ONLY) IN ATTENDANCE
