Frances V.
"Fran" Dudek
May 28, 1921 — Feb 3, 2024
Homer Glen
Frances V. "Fran" Dudek
(Nee Machowski)
Age 102, late of Homer Glen passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Cudahy, WI and later a lifelong resident of the southwest suburbs of Chicago. After moving to the Chicago suburbs, Frances worked alongside her husband and sons at their family business as the office manager until retiring at the age of 90. Fran was a devoted mother and "Gramma" who often spent time making cherished meals and baked goods with recipes that have since been passed down and are still used today. She also enjoyed time with family and friends enjoying meals and playing card games. As the Matriarch of the family, she was the source of familial information always keeping tabs on birthdays, celebrations, and milestones for every one of her children and grandchildren. Later in life she still kept her wits about her, remaining fastidious in nature and never forgetting any important detail. Fran was truly a remarkable lady who, until her last moments, remained pridefully independent.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Dudek; son, Robert "Bob" Dudek; parents Martin and Katherine (Nee Burzec) Machowski; two brothers, Theodore (Bernice) Machowski, Edward Machowski; and two sisters, Mary (E.L.) Rountree, and Stella (Steve) Guzik.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (late Chester) Walters of Albuquerque, NM, two sons William (Janet) Dudek of Elmhurst, IL, and Les (Sabine) Dudek of Homer Glen, IL; eight grandchildren, Gwendolyn (Robert) Burkett, Jennifer Wise, Jessica (Steve) Thielen, Amy (Dan) Hibben, Terrence (Mary) Walters, Kimberlee (Mark) Ostrowski, Matthew (Sheila) Dudek, and Abigail Dudek; seventeen great-grandchildren, Tori, Elizabeth, Michael, Jeremy, Kelsey, Mason, Trevor, Chandler, Lucas, Brooke, Blake, Ethan, Tim, Neleah, Daniela, Madison, and Alexandra; two great-great-grandchildren, Oliver and Amelia; and dear friend Donna Dudek.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 8:30 am until time of service at 9:30 am with Deacon Kevin Ryan officiating.
