Genevieve M. Dohner
Nov. 15, 1928 to Nov. 11, 2020
Genevieve M. Dohner (nee Lyle), 91, of Lockport, fondly known as Mom, Grandma, G.G., GeeBee and Gene, was called to heaven Nov. 11, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Ola Lyle and many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister and best friend Irene Hill; son Rick and his wife Sharon Dohner, daughter Sandy and her husband Danny Mullins; grandson Chris Dohner, granddaughter Michelle and her husband Rob Gura, great grandsons Drew and Zac Gura and many nieces and nephews.
Gene was spunky, strong and fiercely independent. She loved a nice glass of wine, a strong cup of coffee, a competitive game of cards, a good party, a trip to the casino and watching sports on TV.
Nothing was more important to her than her family and her friends. She could often be found on a casino outing with Irene, in Sandy and Danny's backyard, spending time on her balcony with Rick, Sharon and Chris or playing games at Michelle and Rob's house.
She never missed one of her great grandson's events. She enjoyed attending band concerts, especially listening to Drew's jazz band, and you could always hear her cheer from the sidelines at Drew and Zac's flag football games, basketball games and tennis matches. Always inspiring, she was the family's biggest cheerleader.
Gene was also an avid cook. She specialized in blueberry muffins, Christmas cookies, chocolate pie, chicken soup and mashed potatoes. She was the gifted hostess whether it was cooking elaborate holiday meals for her family or hors d'oeuvres for her neighbors. She loved being a part of her condo community, sharing a glass of wine and conversation with her neighbors and feeding her neighbor's dog Sassy special treats.
Never one to need material possessions, she lived a full life surrounded by loving family and friends, and now we have an angel to continue taking care of us.
Per Genevieve's wishes cremation rites have been respectfully addressed.
