Lockport
Gwendolyn Marjory Barbush-Zerbinos (nee Barnett)
Gwen Barbush-Zerbinos, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Lockport, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 10, 1931, to her parents Albert C Barnett and Neva A (Dickinson) Barnett in Blairstown, IA.
On September 3, 1949, Gwen married the love of her life, John Barbush, and they spent 52 happy years together until his passing on October 23, 2001. Gwen found love again with George Zerbinos, and they were joined in marriage on August 31, 2003 until his passing on October 8, 2020.
Gwen loved God and His promises & the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her dedication was to her husband, children, and grandchildren, and she lived for them all. She was an incredible artist with painting, woodcarving, and all kinds of arts and crafts. Gwen was always fashionable and looking her beautiful best! Rollerblading in her 70s and doing yoga in her 80s; she didn't let age slow her down. She had a youthful and energetic nature and zest for life that endured to the end. Gwen always had a heart for helping people any way she could, from spreading kind words and hugs to giving money to those in need. She had eyes that saw what was needed and the empathy that moved her heart to take action. Above all else, she loved her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Neva (nee Dickinson) Barnett; husbands John A Barbush and George J Zerbinos; son Thomas Barbush; stepson James Zerbinos; sons-in-law Michael Nowak and Frank Blue; grandsons David Nowak and Jacob Barbush, and James Blue; great grandson Daniel R. Sterling.
Survived by her children Pamela Blue (Ray Cermak) of Arizona, John (Karen) of Plainfield, George (Kathy) of Florida, Diane (Alan) Warrington of West Chicago, Cathy (Bob) Hayes of Florida, Janet (Bill) Sterling of Lockport, Susan (Keith) Wolick of Arizona, Kathy Barbush of Florida, Robert (Sandy) of North Aurora and David (Zoe) of Florida; stepdaughter Autumn (Courtney) Bernard; 38 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other dear family members and friends.
