Hilaria Mata "Lala"

Our beloved mother Hilaria, age 86, of San Antonio, Tx passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 12, 2025. She was reunited with her beloved husband of 70 years, her mother, father, sister, and brothers. Born in Anahuac Nuevo Leon, Mexico, lived in Lemont, IL, Lockport, IL, and lived in San Antonio / Laredo, Tx for the past 25 years. Lala was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a wonderful and devoted mother who was always there when needed most, offering support and wisdom in abundance. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Pedro Mata Sr; parents, Jesus and Maria (Nee Flores) Leal; one sister, Tomasa Galleges; four brothers, Benjamin, Juan, Ramiro, and Pepe Leal.

Survived by her eight loving children, John Mata, Gloria (Pablo) DeLira, Esteban (Mary) Mata, Sylvia (Lionel) Lopez, Pedro Jr. (Laura) Mata, Enrique (Teresita) Mata, Ricardo (Ginger) Mata, and Carlos (Rocio) Mata; 23 cherished grandchildren; 18 adored great grandchildren, a brother Jesus (Amabelly) Leal; and two sisters, Guadalupe (late Emilio) Velazquez and Oralia (late Eusevio) Lopez.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport IL, 60441 from 9:00am until Rosary Service at 10:30am. Following the Rosary Service Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am at St. Dennis Church, Lockport. Interment following Mass at Lockport City Cemetery, Lockport, IL.
