Horace Edward Dukes Sr.
"Duke"

Age 81, late of Lockport passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Born and raised in Birmingham, AL, and resident of Lockport for the past 50 years. A longtime devout elder and member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Joliet. Retired from Catepillar in 1998 where he was a machine operator for 30 years. Horace was a barber who owned and operated Dukes House of Style in Joliet for many dedicated years. He was very active in the community and touched many hearts over his short 81 years of life. He was a kind and loving soul and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his mother, Ethel (Daniel) Jenkins; his father, Preston Dukes; his siblings, Douglas Dukes, Theodore Dukes, Shirley Jenkins – Ross, and Geneva Jenkins.

Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Freddie Mae Carter Dukes, three cherished sons, Horace E. Dukes II, Aristede Dukes, and Gary Dukes; one adored, granddaughter, Jaelyn Dukes; two brothers, Everett Dukes, and Daniel (Freddie) Jenkins Jr.; numerous other cherished family members and friends also survive.

Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Joliet Seventh Day Adventist Church 21514 Division St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 3:00pm until time of memorial service at 5:00pm.
