Irene Vasiliades
(nee Moyers)

After graduating from high school in Joppa, IL, Irene headed north to the Chicagoland area for what she hoped would be a better life for her. Soon after the move, she found work at the Western Electric plant in Cicero, and a short time later met Jimmy the Greek and their love story began.

They raised their three sons and daughter in Lemont and Lockport, IL.  Irene later worked many years for the Orland Park Marshall Field's/Macy's in their fragrance department and was an active member at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet, IL.

She was an avid reader, a witty woman, a singer, and the light of her family. Irene was the matriarch of the family and the glue that kept everyone together. She had an infectious smile and was a headstrong woman. Irene was a loving yiayia to 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a special pup named Koukla. Irene was looked to for her wisdom and her love. It was felt by her whole family.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Jimmy" Vasiliades; her parents, Farris and Edna Moyers; siblings, Charles Moyers and Beatrice Haynes.

Survived by her loving children, James (Sandra) Vailiades, Pete (Marci) Vasiliades, Anthony Vasiliades and Stacy O'Connor; dearest grandchildren, Robby, Nicholas, Alex, Elyse, Sammy, Lanie and Sabrina; cherished great-grandchildren, Isabella, Marisol, Joaquin, James, Lucas and Liam; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Monday, April 7, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm ( Trisagion at 5:00pm ) at O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport.  Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Joliet.  Vistation will begin at 9:00am with Services at 10:00am.  Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in Joliet.  For Info: (815) 838-5010 or www.oneilfuneralhome.com
