Janice E. "Jan" Story

(Nee Perry)

Age 85, passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. She was born and raised in Mayfield, Kentucky, a resident of Lockport for 59 years and spending the winters in Ft. Myers, Florida for the past 21 years. Retired from Lockport Township High School where she was a dedicated teacher, and administrator for many years. She enjoyed walking on the beach and admiring the sunset, she loved boating on the Kankakee River, but most of all cherished spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Story (2018); her parents, Franklin and Anita (Griffin) Perry; and her daughter-in-law, Melinda Zanzola-Story.

Survived by her loving children, Jamie (Denise) Story, David (Melissa Zanzola) Story and Valerie Story-Alberico; Cherished grandchildren, McKenzie, Devin and Peyton Story and Alaina and Alex Alberico; a sister, Frankie (late Steve) Riga; and a brother, Jim (Sherry) Perry. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer's Association , or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Jan's name would be greatly appreciated.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.
