Joan Marie Rutecki
(Nee Scheffel)

On August 7, 2022, God welcomed Joan Marie Rutecki, age 73 of Lockport, Illinois into his loving arms. Born on October 23,1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Donald and Mildred Scheffel. In her early years, Joan graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago. She then attended beauty school. Later she became a member of First Apostolic Church where she met the love of her life Thomas Rutecki. The two of them celebrated forty-four years of marriage. Joan found pleasure in being the first Sunday School Teacher at the First Apostolic Church. She also served as a teacher at Lockport Christian Academy for five years. Joan found purpose in helping anyone in need. She was gifted in craft making and an avid Christmas ornament decorator. She was a current member of Life Church of Joliet.
Preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mildred Scheffel; siblings, Robert Scheffel, Linda Scheffel, Donna Scheffel and Phillip Scheffel.
Survived by her husband, Thomas Rutecki; children, Debbie (Pete) Warren, David (Candy) Saylor, Dawn (Phil) DeStefano and Katie Tollard (Justin Vasquez); one brother, William Scheffel; a sister, Sandra Corwin; aunt, Marion Scheffel; and her dear friend, Mary Shelton. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. She also has several honorary grandchildren and great grandchildren in which she was endearingly referred to as "Grandma One More Time". We love you to infinity and beyond. In lieu of flowers, all financial gifts to Thomas Rutecki.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Life Church of Joliet, 714 Bethel Dr. Joliet, Illinois 60435.
Funeral Service will be held at Life Church of Joliet on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 10:00am.  Interment immediately following service at Lockport Cemetery, Lockport Illinois.
