Joann E. Rembles (nee Franks)

Age 91, passed away peacefully under the care of Lightways Hospice on Monday, February 16, 2026. Born and raised in Chicago and Lyons, IL, lived in Fort Myers, FL, and a former resident of the Carillon Community in Plainfield before becoming ill.

Joann's heart was happy with her family, especially during large gatherings filled with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A devoted wife, she cared for her husband through his dementia, with patience and tenderness. She loved sewing, crocheting, baking, gardening, and cheering for her Chicago Cubs.

As an adult, she fulfilled a dream by returning to school to become a registered nurse.    In retirement, she and her husband collected antique dolls and toys, and she embraced Florida life—enjoying beach days and her doll club friends.  Joann was a lifelong, faithful Catholic whose devotion guided her throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Rembles (2016); beloved children, Karen Crone and David Rembles; granddaughter, Mary Ann Crone; parents, Joseph and Ina (nee Simpson) Franks; and siblings, Joseph, Don, Patricia, and Charles.

Survived by her loving daughter, Sandra (Bob) Hafey; daughter-in-law, Carol Rembles; son-in-law, George Crone; cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jeff) York, Kathleen (Adam) Hinkle, Colleen (Sean) Doyle, Christine (Patrick) Clardy, Angela (Brandon) Wills, and Jessica (Charles) Luby; 18 adored great grandchildren; and many dear nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Lightways Hospice ( DONATE ) or St. Joseph Church in Lockport.

Lying in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church 500 S. Jefferson St. Lockport, IL 60441 on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 10:00am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment following Mass at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
