U.S. Army Korean War Veteran

Late of Cabot, AR., passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024. Retired Owner of Cook's Office Machines in Chicago Heights.  Former dedicated member of St. Dennis Church which included being a Eucharistic Minister, Marriage Encounter and Pre-Cana counseling.  Member of the St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville, AR.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Howard (nee Kirby); parents, Walter and Anne Howard; sisters, Dorothy Lockhart and Joyce Gullett.

Survived by his loving children, John Jr. (Laurie), William Sr. (Linda), Patrick (Loretta), Andrew (Patti) Howard and Julie (Vince) Kozlowski; 14 grandchildren, John III, Peter, Laurie Beth, William Jr., Matthew, Daniel, Patrick, Connor, Michael, Justin, Allison, Vincent, Maxwell and William; eight great grandchildren, Hudson, Hadley, Landon, Lydia, Levi, Ruth Anne, Magdalene and Sienna.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in John's name would be greatly appreciated ( DONATE ).

Services will be held at 9:15am on Friday December 13, 2024, in the O'Neil Funeral Home chapel 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport, IL 60441 to St. Dennis Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Visitation Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
