John Tyler Krestel

Age 23, of Lockport passed away instantly due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Born in Naperville, and longtime resident of Lockport. Tyler graduated from Lockport Township High School in 2018, Elite EMT School in 2019, Romeoville Fire Academy in 2021, and South Suburban Paramedic School in 2023. Employed by Mathis Construction, Lockport since 2016. Tyler had a great passion for Fire Service, riding motorcycles, Brazilian jujitsu, loved Mustangs, had an eye for photography, and from grade school thru high school he enjoyed football, and wrestling. He had a huge heart, was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lois Graven.

Survived by his devoted parents, his mother Kristin (Nee Graven) (Jim) Schlicher of Liberty, TN, his father, JJ Krestel (Jennifer Cherney) of Lockport; two cherished siblings, Lexi Krestel and Ryan Krestel both of Lockport; his maternal grandfather, Marvin Graven; paternal grandfather, John Edward Krestel; paternal grandmother, Nanette Krestel; and aunts,uncles, many cousins, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Krestel family, which will be donated to various local charities in Tyler's name would be greatly appreciated. The Krestel family would like everyone to bring one of their favorite photos of Tyler on Tuesday when attending visitation that will be displayed at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 2:00pm until time of eulogies, funny stories, and kind words that will be shared by family and friends at 8:00pm. Following visitation Cremation Rites will be respectfully addressed.
