Age 62, of Lockport passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, with his loving wife, Lisa by his side. Born in Berwyn, raised in Hickory Hills, lived in Orland Park, and a resident of Lockport for the past 20 years. Retired from Orland Fire Protection District in 2018 after 27 years of dedicated service. John started his career in fire service at 17 years old as a paid-on call firefighter in Roberts Park and worked at Worth Fire Department early on. He was a true outdoorsman he loved fishing, camping, ATVing, and boating. In his spare time, he enjoyed carpentry and tinkering with all his tools. An avid Chicago Blackhawks fan and enjoyed watching hockey and football. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Michelle Teninty; his parents, John and Patricia (nee Doyle) Teninty Sr.; and one sister, Kelly Teninty.

Survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Lisa (nee Biros) Teninty; his son, Steven Teninty; his cherished sisters, Kathy (Shaun) Duffy, Jennifer (Dave) Egan, and Jeanne (Rich) Zaper; two brothers in law, Wayne (Carrie) Biros, and Michael (Nora) Biros; his faithful companions his dogs, Howie and Tottie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Paws to Care in John’s name would be greatly appreciated.

Cremation rites have been respectfully addressed.

Memorial visitation will be held in the O’Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. (159th St.) Lockport, IL 60441 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00am until eulogies shared at 2:00pm by friends and family.
