"Joe"

Age 72, late of Orland Park, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle on Monday, April 5, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Poland, moved to the United States in 1961, lived in Chicago until 1988, Lemont for 30 years and a resident of Orland Park since 2019. Retired from Central Steel and Wire in 2011 after 35 years of dedicated service. A proud United States Vietnam Army Veteran. He was very social and talked to everyone, to Joe no one was a stranger.  An avid gardener, and in retirement he worked in the garden center at Meijer which he thoroughly enjoyed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Tracy Capiak (1977); parents, Karol and Anna (Nee: Zachemski) Capiak.

Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Maura (Nee: Saldana) Capiak; four cherished daughters, Michele (Don) Rickard, Sheri (Rick) Skowron, Nicky (Chuck) Ignasiak and Kelly (Sean) Hunt; 10 adored grandchildren, Sam (Jessica) Carreon, William Pedroza, Hannah, Joshua and Mason Skowron, Payton, Paige and Charlie Ignasiak and Timothy and Lucy Hunt; two brothers, John (Stella) Capiak and Carl (Caryn) Capiak. Numerous other cherished family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Joe's name would be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:30pm. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Friday with only his immediate family in attendance.
