Lillian Treacy nee McDonnell, 97
Native of Cullenaughton, Callow, County Mayo Ireland.
Beloved wife of the late Cronan Treacy.
Loving mother of Sean Treacy.
Cherished grandmother "Nana" of Brendan, Kevin (Fiancee Mary Santschi) and Brian Treacy.
Dear Sister of Tommy (Mary) and the late Mary, Fr. Ignatius, Sr. Ann, Bridie, Evelyn, Sean, Martin, Jimmy, Catherine "Kitty" and Celine
Aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was a nurse in the Chicagoland area for almost 30 years. After arriving in America in 1959, she first worked at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, and later as a private duty home healthcare nurse. She always felt a strong desire to help others and take care of people that needed it the most.
She was very involved in St Gerald's Parish and school in Oak Lawn during the 1970's and early 1980's as a member of both the Alter and Rosary Society and Mother's Club. She was a frequent volunteer for many classroom field trips, school events, and parish fundraisers.
Lillian was also an avid golfer. She and her husband Cronan enjoyed playing together on trips to Florida, Ireland, as well as here locally. She participated in competitive women's leagues for many years.
More than anything, Lillian enjoyed time with her family. She loved to cook dinners on holidays and special occasions for her family throughout the year and made sure to attend as many of her three grandsons' ballgames and school events as she could.
Lillian was a devout Catholic and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She always saw the goodness in others and brightened everyone's day with her warm smile, charming sense of humor, and caring personality.
She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
