Obituary

Lynn Marie Huck (nee Skwarek), 65, entered eternal life on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 surrounded by family at her home in Lockport.  Beloved wife of Jim and incredible mom of Julie Stay (Nick) and Tony Huck (Juliana).  Proud grandma of Colin Stay, Anna Huck, Natalie Stay and Will Huck.  Devoted daughter to the late Louis and Dorothy Skwarek.  Caring sister and sister-in-law to Ron (the late Mary Ann) Skwarek; Wayne (Toni) Skwarek, Dave (Renee) Skwarek, Kathy (the late Ed) Petrak, Dan (Leslie) Huck, John (Katherine and the late Roxana) Huck, Peter Huck, and Frank (Amy) Huck.  Marvelous auntie to more than two dozen nieces and nephews and friend to so many.

A self-professed night owl, Lynn could often be found baking at midnight for any and every occasion.  Her cakes, cookies and sweet treats graced birthdays, holidays, showers, parties and bake sales for decades.  Her final bake was for her granddaughter's birthday.  It featured her famous buttercream frosting adorning a book themed cake.  And she didn't leave this earth until she made sure the "little bear" shaped baking pan was out of the cabinet and ready for her grandson's first birthday.

She met the love of her life, Jim, in college.  For 41 years they laughed, loved and made their home in three different states (Illinois, Tennessee and Indiana).  They raised two children, hosted countless parties and were never too busy to volunteer.  Lynn was a room mom, Cub Scout leader and the "Cookie Mom" for the Girl Scout troop.  She taught religious education, volunteered with the Council of Catholic Women and lent a hand for food drives, charity fundraisers and service projects.

Lynn was valedictorian of her high school class and became a Certified Public Accountant after graduating with honors from Loyola University.  She worked for several companies including Price Waterhouse and Illinois Tool Works and even ran her own business for a time.  She retired in August from First Presbyterian Church of La Grange after serving as their church accountant for eight years.

She would tell you her favorite role was as a Grandma.  The joy and adoration for her four grandchildren was immeasurable.  She called them her treasures, spoiled them at every opportunity and cheered them on from their first steps to the soccer field. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Living Waters for the World, FISH Food Pantry in Lockport, or Doctors Without Borders in Lynn's name would be greatly appreciated.
