Marie D. Washilewski

(Nee Jakubiec)

Age 93, late of Lockport passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Born and raised in Chicago, lived in the Garfield Ridge area of Chicago most of her life and a resident of Lockport since 2012. Former member of St. Camillus Catholic Church, Chicago. She was a very devout Catholic and faithfully attended Mass or watched Mass on TV.  She did clerical work at Marshall Fields, Chicago for many dedicated years. Marie loved to sew, her wordsearch books, sitting outside, enjoyed the outdoors, traveling to Sister Lakes Michigan, tootsie pops, Wrigley's Double Mint Gum, and was a very loyal Chicago White Sox fan and never missed a game. Above all else she cherished spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen Washilewski (1981); one grandson, Jamie Velasquez; parents, Joseph and Angeline (Nee Hodur) Jakubiec; a brother, John Jakubiec; three sisters, Anne Polubinski, Helen Czochara, and Stella Jakubiec.

Survived by her four devoted children, Sharon Velasquez, Sue Washilewski, Sandra (Steve) Muzenjak, and Steve (Candice) Washilewski; loving grandchildren, Glenn (Tammy) and Christie (Adam) Velasquez, Ashley (Chris) Brown, Kalee (Chris) Muzenjak, Steven Washilewski, Bobby Edinger, and Caitlynn (Trevor) Banske; cherished great grandchildren, Amanda Velasquez, Andrew Velasquez – Phelan, and Samantha Briggs, Savannah, Charlotte, Caroline and Claire Banske ; one sister, Bernice (late Theodore) Gansky; numerous other cherished family members also survive.

Prayers will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9 ^th St. Lockport, IL 60441 at 9:15am then proceeding to St. Joseph Church, Lockport for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment following Mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Justice. Visitation Thursday, March 16, 2023, in the funeral home chapel from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
