Obituary

Michael D. Foulk, age 58, of Wilmington, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on April 24, 2026.

Mike was born on May 25, 1967 in Elmhurst, Illinois. For his entire career, Mike was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150, where he worked as a mechanic and then later as an organizer. Mike was also a faithful member in good standing of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Matteson Lodge #175.

Although it was far too short, Mike lived his life how he wanted and on his own terms - hard, fast, and to the extreme. That fast-paced spirit led Mike to a wide range of passions, from racing cars and riding motorcycles to scuba diving, beekeeping, cooking, and gardening. Whether it was vats of homemade chicken noodle soup, pounds upon pounds of vegetables from his garden, or shiny new equipment, whatever he pursued, he did so fully and fearlessly, diving in headfirst and giving it everything he had. There was no stopping Mike once he picked up a new hobby.

Despite his thrill-seeking ways, for those he loved and cared about, Mike was always just a phone call or text away. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and willingness to do anything for his family and close friends. His honesty, sharp sarcasm, sense of adventure, mischievous nature, and laid-back attitude will also be deeply missed.

Mike was preceded in death by his step-brother, Danny Kavinsky, and his granddaughter, Emelia Suzette Foulk.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Foulk (Buss); children, Michael (Katie) Foulk, Nicholas (Julie) Turvey, and Kyle (Lauren) Turvey; grandchildren, Colin, Natalie, Rilynn, Ethan, Caleb, Owen, Dylan, and Olivia; parents Skip and Jackie Foulk; brother, Skip (Elizabeth) Foulk and step-sister, Debbie (Todd) Jarret; along with many other dear family members and friends.
