Obituary

Paul P. Laskovsky

Age 88, passed March 28, 2022, with his children at his side, due to complications from a recent fall. Born, in 1934, and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, he moved to Joliet in the 1950's and for the last 28 years he resided in Shorewood. Survived by his children, Dawn (Steven) Verplaetse of Crest Hill, Sue Laskovsky (Karen Hauser) of Wells, ME, Patty Taylor of Phoenix, AZ., and Peter Laskovsky of Joliet; proud grandfather to Sam (Hannah) Verplaetse and Brooke and Morgan Taylor; one sister Rosalie Lemanski, of Sandy, Utah; brothers-in-law Joe (Lore) Nahas of Minooka and Matthew Ramuta (Judy) of Shorewood; sister-in-law Jackie Spota (Jim) of Alpharetta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; fond family friends, including the "Romeoville Way-Back-Pack" and many others.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Dona (nee: Nahas) Laskovsky (2014); parents, Peter and Rose Laskovsky Razanskas and stepfather John Razanskas; siblings Helen Belt and Johnny Razanskas; and his canine companion of 16 years, Brio, a Bichon Frise.

Served in the US Marine Corps for two years (1953-55) and loved sharing endless stories of his military experiences. An avid bowler who played on many teams/leagues while working at Reynolds Aluminum. He continued work as an IT Specialist until he retired in 1996. An avid sports fans of the Chicago Bears (25+ yrs season ticket holder), Cubs and Bulls, and loyal Joliet Catholic football supporter, he passed that love of sports to his young children, taking them and neighborhood kids in the family station wagon to Cubs and Sox games. He attended a World Series game, college football bowl games and even volunteered at two Super Bowl events, the last in 2015, in Phoenix. He never missed his children's sports games, dance performances or school events, always traveling wherever the events took place. He and his wife began yearly family trips to Florida in the early 70's and then in their later years, spent time each winter in Siesta Key. Travel to Arizona began as tourists and became more frequent as two daughters moved to Arizona. He also enjoyed skiing with family/friends on trips to Colorado and Nevada.
Local member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and past member of the Joliet Elks.
