Richard C. Schulz

"Rich"

Age 83, of Lockport passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born and raised in Chicago, lived in San Antonio, Tx and France during his time in the Army, lived in Braidwood, IL and a resident of Lockport since 2018. A proud United States Army Veteran.  A dedicated employee of Bloomfield Industries, Chicago where he was a credit manager for many years, also worked for John DeKoker Garden Center, Chicago and Coin-o-Matic Laundry/ Harry Miller Appliances, Alsip, IL. Former member of Midlothian Methodist Church.  An avid gardener, he especially loved planting flowers which brought him so much joy. Richard had an eye for photography, has a great interest in the railroad, loved old cars, woodworking, and was a "Jack of All Trades". He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene (nee Forsythe) Schulz (2018); granddaughter in infancy, Morgan Schulz; parents, Herbert and Sylvia (nee Stach) Schulz; daughter-in-law, Teri Schulz; in-laws, Gerald and Joyce Forsythe; brother-in-law, Stephen Forsythe; and sister-in-law, Jo Anne Ferroli.

Survived by his devoted children, John Schulz, and Christine (Jim) Gawel; eight grandchildren, Brenna Schulz, Ryan Schulz, Peyton Schulz, Ethan Schulz, Daniel Alfrey, Nick Alfrey, Hannah Gawel, and Lauren Gawel; brother-in-law, Lou Ferroli; sister-in-law, Patricia Forsythe. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parkinson's Foundation in Richard's name would be greatly appreciated.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 10:00am until time of Service at 11:30am. Interment following Service at Abraham National Cemetery, Elwood, IL with full Military Honors.
