Robert F. Verburgt

"Robby"

Age 60, late of Lockport passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Born in Deventer, Netherlands, raised in Chicago, lived in Bolingbrook, and was a resident of Lockport since 1975.

Robert was a proud alumni of the Joliet Junior College Automotive program. He started his career as an ASE certified mechanic with Vidmar Buick, Bill Jacobs Chevrolet and was then employed by Commonwealth Edison since 1987 for many dedicated years and retiring in 2013.

Robert was a car enthusiast and had a passion for restoring classic cars and trucks; he will always be known for his love of his '65 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport and numerous Corvettes.

Robert was a renowned handyman with master expertise in carpentry, electrical and plumbing, and he had a great love for nature and animals. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His smile and laughter will always live on.

Robert was the oldest son and preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Astrid (Nee Weymans) Verburgt; and his beloved sister, Paula Darin.

Survived by his two sisters, Yvonne (Paul) Verburgt and Christine (Charles) Brown; two brothers, David (Maria fiancé) Verburgt and Hubert John (Marcia) Verburgt. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

A memorial gathering celebrating Robert's life will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020 in the O'Neil Funeral Home chapel 1105 E. 9 ^th St., Lockport, IL., 60441 from 10:00am until time of memorial service at 11:00am.

Inurnment will be held at Lockport City Cemetery immediately following services.

Per Robert's wishes cremation rites were respectfully addressed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing practices are required inside the funeral home and a limited number of guests will be allowed in at a time.
