Sandra J. Young  "Sandy"

Age 82, late of Shorewood passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Born in Joliet, raised and lived in Lockport for more than 77 years.  She lived in Shorewood since 2021 with her son Jerry.  From late 2023 until her death, Sandy lived with her son Jim and family in Maryland.  Sandy was a stay-at-home mother raising her sons until her husband passed away in 1975.   She needed to work to provide financially for her family and began running the family's retail liquor store – Terrace Liquors – in Romeoville.  Like her father, she was a very successful businessperson and grew the liquor store, bought a building to house that store and became a landlord for other businesses.

Sandy attended Sacred Heart School in Lockport, which became St. Dennis. After graduating from Sacred Heart, Sandy attended Mount Assisi in Lemont.   She graduated from Mount Assisi as the valedictorian for her class.  Sandy loved traveling, cooking and eating food, but above all else she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Young (1975); her fiancé of more than 25 years, James P. Frattini (2013); her son, Gerald ("Jerry") J. Young (2023); her parents James and Rose Marietta; her sister Kathleen ("Kay") Gatz (2015), and her late husband's parents Edward and Irene Young.

Survived by her three loving sons, Jim (Julie), John (Anna), and Joel (Ami) Young; her adored grandchildren, Bailey Young, Ali (Coleman) McLaurin, Tori Young, Lauren Werth, Sara Lopez, Jon Michael Young, Abigail Young, and Addison Young; her adorable great grandchildren Talullah Schweitzer, Finley and Charlie McLaurin, and many loving and cherished cousins and friends.

Visitation Friday July 12, 2024 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport.  Funeral Service Saturday July 13, 2024 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15am then proceeding to St. Joseph Church (500 S.
