Sarah A.
Lohmar
Sep 2, 1933 — Nov 12, 2023
Lockport Township
Sarah A. Lohmar
(Nee Rini)
Age 90, late of Lockport Township passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023, with her family by her side. Born and raised in Chicago, and a resident of Lockport Township for many years. She was a devout Catholic and a great supporter of both St. Dennis and St. Joseph Church and School. Along with her husband, Warren, they owned and managed a rental property in Lockport all the way into their 80's which brought her much joy. Sarah was widely known as a talented Italian cook preparing many festas for her family and friends, and you never left her kitchen hungry or without a dish to take home. She was a gifted pie maker and baker of traditional holiday Italian cookies, passing that legacy on to her daughter and granddaughters. She was so proud of her Sicilian Italian heritage. Above all else she cherished spending time with her loving family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Nee Sanfillipo) Rini; brothers-in-law, Charles Marzano, Don Lohmar, Ralph Bradel, and Rick Gunther; a nephew, Donald Lohmar; in-laws, Fred and Ruby (Nee Washburn) Lohmar; and several loved aunts, uncles, cousin, her grandparents, and dear friends who passed on before her.
Survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Warren W. Lohmar; two loving children, Joey (Rhonda) Lohmar, and Michele (Bruce) Rutter; four adored grandchildren, Erika (George) Kulovitz, Kara (James) Thomas, Nicole Kazlauric, and Brent (Jamie) Rutter; two sisters, Ceil Bradel, and Marlene Gunther; sister-in-law, Phyllis Lohmar; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Lohmar family would like to thank all of Sarah's wonderful caregivers for all their exceptional care and love she was given throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice, or St. Joseph/ St. Dennis School Endowment fund in Sarah's name would be greatly appreciated.
The Lohmar family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Joseph Church 500 S. Jefferson St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 10:00am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment following Mass at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Romeoville.
