Seemanthini Hariharan

Age 72, late of Mokena passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Born and raised in Chennai, India, she moved around throughout her childhood due to her father's service in the Indian Air Force. Seemanthini received her Medical Degree from St. John's Medical School in Bangalore India, she then moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1976 where she served her residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. After her residency she completed her Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago. She worked at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana, and Women's Specialty Care (Bellin Health) , Green Bay, Wisconsin. She went out on her own to practice Maternal Fetal Medicine as a dedicated locum tenens physician to many throughout her career. Seemanthini had a very successful career, she touched so many lives, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, traveling, was an avid reader, enjoyed music and movies. She had a passion for babies and was dedicated to specializing in high-risk pregnancies. She loved animals and above all else she had a great love for her family.

Preceded in death by her parents, Varadarajan and Sundari (Subbaiyer) Hariharan.

Survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Maya L. Hariharan, and her faithful dog, Chaya.

A gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E, 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 1:00pm until time of Rituals at 1:30pm. Following Rituals Cremation Rites will be honored.
