Sharon (Vassalla) Cassidy
Age 71, of Lockport, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Born in Chicago on October 21, 1954, to the late Jerry and Lucille Vassalla, Sharon was a woman of deep Catholic faith, exquisite style, and boundless loyalty. She is survived by her husband, William Cassidy III.
Sharon’s world revolved around her family. She was the devoted mother of James (Maria) Greco and William (Christina) Cassidy. She was the tremendously proud grandmother of Thomas Greco, her buddy and undeniable pride and joy. Sharon was overjoyed to be anticipating the arrival of Baby Boy Cassidy, who no doubt would have captured her heart as they forged a special bond. She truly put her boys at the center of her priorities.
She was the cherished sister of Sandra (John) Painter and Jerry (Kelly) Vassalla. In retirement, she and her siblings remained fast friends, choosing to live just down the block from one another and sharing a standing Tuesday morning breakfast date. She also leaves behind her dear friend and sister-in-law, Joan (Jim) Maita, with whom she shared a rare, laughter-filled bond. Sharon also leaves behind the many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and family members whom she loved fiercely.
Raised in St. Symphorosa Parish and later raising her own children at St. Daniel Parish. Sharon’s faith was deeply rooted. Her naturally caring spirit extended well beyond her family through her decades of work in the medical field. She also had an extraordinary gift for making the world around her more beautiful. Whether through her impeccable wardrobe, the welcoming scent of her lovingly decorated home, or her legendary (Tommy assisted) holiday pizzelles, Sharon made sure everything was just right.
Though Sharon has departed from our sight, the light of her devotion endures, keeping her loved ones eternally connected in heart. Her legacy lives in each of us and our continued care for each other.
Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.
