Obituary

Sharon Ann Grcevic

(Nee Schroeder)

Sharon was born with the gift of the joy of Jesus Christ. That's how she lived her life and gave witness to everyone she met. Born April 20, 1942, in St. Claire Shores, Michigan, and adopted by her parents shortly after her 1st birthday, she always felt so loved. Sharon was raised in Steger, IL and graduated from Bloom Township High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation she moved to Boulder, CO, with her friends where she worked as a dental assistant. Shortly after moving back to IL, she worked at Sears where she met her husband, Tony Grcevic, and as they say, Sears has everything. The couple were married on August 24, 1968.

In the early years, they moved frequently in their early years of marriage, although both of their children were born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a late resident of both Port Charlotte, Florida, and Homer Glen, IL, where she raised her family and then returned during the summer months in retirement. Sharon and her loving husband, Tony Grcevic, have been partners in every sense of the word, including starting their business, National Reading Development Institute and then again, Sharon worked alongside Tony in his career as a financial advisor in Florida. She proudly served in the Stephen's Ministry in Florida and sang in the choir at both Christ Lutheran Church in Orland Park and Trinity Lutheran Church of Southwest Florida. Her church has always been an integral part of her life.

Sharon was an avid reader, she loved to walk and everyone always commented on her hats. One of her favorite places was the beach at Boca Grande. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and grandmother. Sharon leaves countless friends, cousins, neighbors and acquaintances. The impact she's had is vast and she will be sorely missed. She always wore a smile and was quick with a laugh to brighten any room.

Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ethel Schroeder and her brother, Paul and (Violet) Withers and her sister-in-law, Edwina Golec.

Survived by her husband of 57 years, Anthony Grcevic; two children, Brad (Allycn) Grcevic, and Tonya (David) Almond; five grandchildren, Aaron Grcevic, Madison Grcevic, Payton Grcevic, Jacksen Almond and Brady Almond.

Cremation rites have been respectfully addressed.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial in her honor to the Building Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church of Southwest in Port Charlotte. Memorial checks to be made out to Trinity Lutheran Church of SW Florida, building fund, and mailed to 1379 S McCall Road, Port Charlotte, FL 33981.
