Obituary

Shirley M. Przenieslo

(Nee: McBride)

Age 89, late of Lockport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her late residence surrounded by her loving family. Born in Joliet IL., a lifelong Lockport resident.

Shirley was a very loving and caring soul. She had a tender spot for animals and during her life had quite a menagerie including cats, dogs, mice, fish, a monkey, and a horse. All this while providing a warm and happy home for her eight children with whom she would ice skate at Pilcher Park and then warm up with thermoses of hot chocolate. She also loved singing and even won a stove in a contest in her younger years.

Shirley was an avid decorator, always on a ladder painting and then going out to garage sales to find the jewel piece that would give the room the special touch she was looking for. Even if she didn't buy during every foray into the world of garage sales she looked forward to meeting and chatting with new friends.

She felt very lucky to have met so many people, wining and dining with her husband in some of Chicago's finest restaurants and enjoying many wonderful plays. She said she was blessed to have traveled and seen much of the U.S. as well as take their dream trip to Ireland. In her later years she was very content to be able to watch her favorite TV shows, telling her children she remembered the days there was no TV available.

She was a blessing in our lives and there will be a hole in our heart with her passing.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Joseph M. Przenieslo Sr. (2007); her parents, Robert and Mabel (Nee: Frye) McBride; daughters, Mary (Joseph) Hii and Judith Gentry; a granddaughter Gail Rudd; and a sister, Margaret (late Charles) Ording.

Survived by six children, Thomas (Rose) Przenieslo, Sandra (James) Lauritsen, Sharlene (late Allen) Thomason, Jacquelyn (Ronald) Wright, Sharon Ryan, and Joseph (Rebecca) Przenieslo Jr.; numerous and cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and faithful and loving pet Tootie.

In lieu of flowers donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice or an animal shelter of your choice in Shirley's name, would be appreciated.
