Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Teri Jean Schulz (nee Stewart).

Teri passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Sunday, September 19, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 11, 1968, in Beech Grove, Indiana to Terry and Sandra Stewart. An inquisitive child who never took 'no' for an answer, Teri took charge of life – owning her first home at 20. As a Girl Scout, Teri loved to go camping with her friends, eventually becoming a Troop leader as an adult. She played the violin at Southport High School and at Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University in Indianapolis. Teri overcame significant challenges in her life, thanks, in part, to her drive to build the life she wanted. She eventually took time away from work to raise her family, recently returning to school to continue her advanced degree in Forensic Psychology. She loved reading, the outdoors, and was addicted to the Discovery Channel.

Married to John in 2003, Teri helped raise six amazing kids. Her goal was to show them the world; introducing them to people, places, and things that would help shape their future. Many road trips ensued. Their character is a testament to her success.

Teri's life may have been cut short, but she touched the hearts of many while she was with us. She was a 'giver' – investing of herself in her family, friends, and causes – and would go to the ends of the earth to help those who needed it. She conveyed gestures of caring, understanding, and generosity toward you because she loved you. Those lucky enough to have met her now carry a piece of her – whether that be her heart, soul, friendship, wisdom, smile, love, happiness, or sorrow – with you each day in your shared memories. Pay it forward.

Teri is survived by her husband, John Schulz; loving children, Danielle (Alfrey), Brenna, Nick (Alfrey), Ryan, Peyton, and Ethan; parents, Terry and Sandra Stewart; and brother, Patrick (Christina) Stewart.
