Thomas Gogerty
Sr.
Feb 25, 1940 — Mar 30, 2024
Lockport
Thomas W. Gogerty Sr.
Age 84, late of Lockport passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Born and raised in Decatur, IL, lived in Chicago, and a resident of Lockport since 1964. A proud United Sates Navy Veteran. Retired from Caterpillar in 1999 where he was a dedicated electrician for 30 years. Devout member of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, Lockport. He enjoyed camping, and cherished spending time with his family. While our hearts are breaking, we know you are at peace, and we know you left us surrounded by the same love that you gave all of us. You handled these last few months in true Irish fashion, by representing everything and grinning and bearing it. Your Irish goodbye was well done on Holy Saturday. You were truly a gift, and we were all blessed to have you as a kind and loving husband, dad, and especially as papa. You taught us all the importance of working hard, never asking for anything, the love of music, cars, black jellybeans, Bears football, the importance of the United States Navy and serving our country, doing the right thing always and keeping our shit neat and in order. For everything you have done for all of us we are forever grateful, until we meet again rest easy.
Preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Nathan Wolf; his mother, Olive (Nee Smith) Pierson; and his father, William Gogerty; and his precious pup, princess.
Survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Konstantina "Dina" (Nee Kriaris) Gogerty; loving adored children, Bobbie Greminger, John (Ann) Gogerty, Connie (late Paul) Ganz, Thomas Gogerty Jr., and Sherri (Brad) Busch; his adored eleven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, one on the way; and his faithful companion his dog, Lulu.
In lieu of flowers memorials to TLC Animal Shelter in Tom's name would be greatly appreciated.
Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held privately with only his immediate family in attendance.
Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4,2024, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St. Lockport, IL 60441 from 5:00pm until time of Funeral Service at 7:30pm.
